November 5, 2019The 2nd November Remembrance Day was held at the 1st Fiji Infantry Regiment 1(FIR) monument in Camp Ziouanni, Golan Heights on Saturday 2nd November 2019. All members of the Task Force Daimani, Fiji Batt 7 serving with United Nations Dis-Engagement Obserevers Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights held a solemn memorial ceremony in honour of the loyal members of the Third Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR) who paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives defending the Battalion and Queen Elizabeth Barrack (QEB) in Fiji during the mutiny.
The Citation which was interpreted by Lieutenant (Lt) Akuila Biu Tagivetaua during te ceremony read:
“2nd November 2000 should never be forgotten as it marked a great victory over an attempted mutiny which claimed the lives of our brothers within QEB. Today, these braves no more mingle with us, their comrades and sit no more at their usual tables at home. It’s our prayer today that God will grant peace to their families and most of all protect our loving nation from such an event ever.”
