NEVADA SCOPING TEAM HOST LUNCHEON

June 15, 2019The Republic of Fiji Military Force (RFMF) Chief of Staff of the Land Force Command (LFC) Units, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col) Vatimio Leva was Chief Guest for the Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) Cadet pass out parade at Kings ground on Friday 14 June 2019.
In his opening address, the Chief Guest firstly acknowledged the parents, guardians, families and friends present on the auspicious occasion. Being a former student of ‘Delainakaikai’, he told the cadets, the aim of drill is to produce a school who is proud, alert, obedient and also provides the basis of teamwork. He also reminded them that ‘Drill’ is also the foundation of discipline.
Lt. Col Leva also reminded the student on the words of Harry Truman. “In reading the lives of great men, I found that the first victory they won was over themselves. Self-discipline with all of them came first”. “You have a wider range of choice in what you want to be in the future, be motivated, pursue your goals, and make use of discipline and attitudes of mind developed through cadet training”. “Teamwork, alertness and obedience in a cadet should develop the kind person that the nation will be proud to call a Fiji citizen,” he said.
“I urge you to use the different tools you have gained over the years from the instruction of your parents, guardian, teachers, religious leaders, relatives and communities, in addition to what you have acquired through your cadetship to become an asset that Fiji needs today and in years to come,” Lt. Col Leva added.
The students paraded their individual Bure (house) Colours cadets’ uniform – Ratu Sukuna Red/ Ma’afu Blue / Degei Yellow / Cakau Green). Cadet Program is run for a month and culminated in a solid one week “in-training” within the school facilities ranging from various physical, mental training, instilling teamwork and most important discipline.
The event concluded with the school Bazaar as houses teachers and parents rallied to achieve the target of $11,250 per house (Bure) with a total of $36,907.60 was raised on that day.
