July 3, 2019The French Navy Vessel ‘La Moqueuse’ berthed at the Kings Warf in Suva on Saturday morning June 29, 2019.
The ship which is commanded by Lieutenant Commander Yoann Jose Maria with a crew of 30 French naval personnel arrived into the country after the Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ) patrol in New Caledonia and followed by patrolling Fiji’s EEZ. The ‘La Moqueuse naval ship is based in New Caledonia and its mission includes surveillance neighboring country waters.
As part of the regional defense co-operation, the ‘La Moqueuse’ was in the country for two days before it departed for patrolling in international waters.
The 54 meters long and 8 meters wide vessel has 440 displacement metric tons. Powered by two 4000 horse power engines, the vessel has the capability to travel 4200 nautical miles with a range of 15 knots per hour.
