October 14, 2016Two Naval vessels from the Australian Defense Force berthed at the Suva’s Kings wharf this morning at approximately 8am Friday 14 October 2016 as part of a ‘Goodwill’ tour, were welcomed by a welcoming display by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces(RFMF) Band.
The Captains of the Australian Minesweepers Lieutenant Commander Mark Northcote of the HMAS DIAMNTINA and Lieutenant Commander Jason Mullen were officially welcomed by RFMF Force Chief Staff Officer Operations Major Saula Koro and where then escorted to the RFMF Strategic Headquarters where they were treated to a morning tea with the Commander RFMF Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto.
About fifty RFMF personnel toured onboard the two Australian Naval Vessels as they were ushered around by members of the crew on the various workstations manned onboard the vessels and given a brief of the different roles they played or carried out at sea.
The visiting crew members who will be in the country for the short 5 day visit will be expected to participate in a joint community engagement with our RFMF Engineers at a Nakasi Orphanage.
The port visit is part of ADF’s continued effort in strengthening the growing military to military relationship with RFMF.
