June 18, 2019The D’Entrecasteaux B2M French Naval Ship berthed at Suva, Princess Warf today Tuesday 18th June, 2019.
The B2M is Captained by Lieutenant Séverin Jonglez since July 19th, 2018, he has been the Commanding Officer of the surveillance vessel “D’Entrecasteaux – Crew Bravo” in New-Caledonia.
French Naval Ship D’Entrecasteaux B2M is a modern multi-purpose supply vessel, built to merchant navy standards as well as French Navy specifications. It is the key to French military and governmental requirement overseas.
First of her class and was delivered to the French Navy in 2016. The B2Ms are designed to accomplish transportation, surveillance and HADR missions for the government. She is based in the French overseas territories (New-Caledonia, French Polynesia, Reunion Island and the French Caribbean).
Highly-automated, the B2Ms are able to conduct operations with a reduced number of personnel.
The B2Ms are equipped with a bow thruster to assist maneuvering and berthing. A dynamic positioning system is also available in order to maintain the ship on a precise axis and in a given position.
The Ship will be moored at the wharf for the next four days on Port call and respite then she departs on Sunday 23rd June.
