December 23, 2019Fiji Navy Signs MOU with Fisheries Ministry
January 1, 2020The Republic of Fiji Military Forces Navy Division and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service earlier this morning (23 December 2019) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Navy Headquarters Stanley Brown Base in Suva.
The purpose of the MOU which was signed between the Chief of Navy Captain Humphrey Tawake and CEO FRCS Mr. Visvanath Das was to have in place a collaborative platform on which both the parties are enabled to share resources and exchange information, in order to ensure that their respective statutory functions are effectively implemented.
FRCS and RFMF Navy Division share a common Area of Operations (AO). This common AO is the 12 nautical miles Territorial Waters where the sovereignty of Fiji extends; as established under the Law of the Sea Convention and subsequently adopted in Fiji’s Marine Spaces Act 1977.
