September 11, 2019The Officer’s Training School of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces in Vatuwaqa invited the Human Resources Management Director, Colonel Litea Seruiratu to address the opening of the Platoon Commanders Course on Tuesday September 10, 2019. The course will be held for three weeks.
About twenty Second Lieutenant from the various units of RFMF waited patiently at the lecture room to receive words of encouragement from the guest speaker before the commencement of the course.
Colonel Seruiratu encouragingly told members of the course, that as Second Lieutenant you will get your first real lessons in leadership, training, staff duties, maintenance, supply and care for soldiers. The Colonel added that the purpose of the platoon commanders’ course is to teach and impart the newly commissioned officers the mechanisms of RFMF and to train them so that they be able to carry out the duties of the platoon commander. She advised the participants to always lead from the front, they should not take lightly the privilege of leading soldiers in the RFMF, and they should always put the troops first and to lead through their Non-Commissioned Officers. She further stated that training is their number one priority. “Know what you do not know and do something about it”, Colonel Seruiratu said.
Colonel Seruiratu told members of the course for them to guard their integrity properly and not to compromise it.
“Your time as a platoon commander is one of the most rewarding and memorable of your military career. I guarantee you, not every day will be pleasant, but as you meet all the challenges, your confidence will grow. If you will always lead by your examples, train your troops well, take good care of them, maintain your integrity, and develop yourself as a professional, those matters will take care of themselves”, she concluded.
The three weeks course was declared opened by the guest speaker after she imparted her message to the participants. The course ends on 27 September.
