November 8, 2019“LEST WE FORGET”: Fiji Remembers the Fallen
November 11, 2019The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) personnel and families came together for a church service on Sunday the 10th November 2019 to farewell those who will represent the RFMF in various sports at the Sukuna Bowl competition which is scheduled to be held on the 18th of November 2019.
The Commander RFMF Rear-Admiral (RADM) Viliame Naupoto in his speech emphasized to the teams the impact of preparing well, being obedient and the importance of giving thanks before heading into the competition.
“There are three words that I would like to emphasis on this morning and that is preparedness, obedience and giving thanks. There’s a phrase that says ‘it is not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win’ this service signifies that preparation. With lack of preparation factors such as arrogance and ignorance will creep in…this will not enable you to win,” RADM Naupoto stated.
“But there are barriers that prevent these factors from escalating and that is obedience and giving thanks. People who are obedient bring themselves down, they listen to those around them even if they have accomplished good things and I believe that if you bring yourself down you will be able to see things positively different. Lastly, always be thankful for things that happen to you…even being thankful for representing the RFMF team in the Sukuna.” RADM Naupoto said.
RADM Naupoto also thanked the families that were present at the farewell service and expressed his appreciation for the never-ending support they give to members of the RFMF.
In addition to this, Sukuna Bowl Main Rugby team captain, Staff-Sergeant Sireli Ledua said that he believes that the Police team will be preparing well to defend the prestigious Tanoa but has stated that they will do their best come game day.
The Sukuna bowl competition will begin on the 18th of this month and will conclude with the main rugby match between Army and Police.
