July 1, 2019The President of the Methodist Church in Fiji Rev Dr Epineri Vakadewavosa had the honour of unveiling the plague which commemorated the gallant and brave warrior of our beloved country Cpl Sefanaia Sukanaivalu at Mawaraka in Bouganville in 1944.
As the catafalque party saluted with the present arms position, the lone bugler sounded the last post which hovered across the 3rd Battalion headquarters adding to the solemnity of the significant occasion. All members saluted while Rev Vakadewavosa was escorted by Commanding Officer 3rd Battalion to unveil the plaque.
His Excellency the president and the Honourable Prime Minister who were proud to reflect on the invaluable contribution to Fiji’s development, also paid their respect to the great son of Fiji who gave his life to save his comrades seventy five years ago at the battlefields in the Solomon Islands.
