December 8, 2017Commander of the French Armed Forces in New Caledonia (FANC) Brigadier General Thierry Marchand paid a courtesy visit Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (CRFMF) Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto at the RFMF Strategic Headquarters at 3pm on Thursday 07 December 2017.
After brief discussions with Rear Admiral Naupoto the two briefly exchanged gifts.
Brigadier Marchand who was also an invited guest at the RFMF Band Centennial Anniversary and Military Tattoo (which was later held on Friday 8 December) was accorded a ‘Quarter Guard’ led by Third Battalion Fiji infantry Regiment Support Company Sergeant Etuate Najoritani.
The Commander of the FANC was ushered on a tour of the military installations around the Suva – Nasinu corridor as part of the visitation program and he briefly paid his respect to our fallen in a laying of a wreath at our National War Memorial site in Veiuto.
Brigadier Marchand and his entourage were also hosted to a buffet lunch by the Commander Land Forces Command Colonel Onisivoro Covunisaqa and Senior Officers of the RFMF at the Officers Mess on Friday 08 December.
This is Brigadier General Thierry Marchand’s first official trip to Fiji upon taking up office as the new superior commander of the FANC on 16 August 2017.
