January 31, 2020The Junior Non-Commission Officers (JNCO) Bridging Course (Cse) was officially open by the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Third Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR) Lieutenant-Colonel (Lt-Col) Aseri Rokoura at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) in Nabua on Tuesday 28th January 2020.
Lt-Col Rokoura firstly congratulated the course participants for being selected to attend the JNCO’s Cse and thanked the staff from the Force Training Group (FTG) in Nasinu for allowing the 3FIR staff members to run the course.
He also stated that the JNCO course highlights leadership at the lowest level and explained how important a JNCO’s tasks was in a Defence Force.
“In this course, you will have to switch on to the role of infantry. This course is to train section commanders assisted by a Lance-Corporal…bring yourself back to combat skills warfare,” Lt-Col Rokoura said.
“This course is about Leadership and Command at the lowest level, this is the basics of leadership and command. As a JNCO, you will be in the fighting team and be with your men on the ground, you lead them on the ground, administratively and tactically.” Lt-Col Rokoura stated.
“This Course is not only for your CV but it for Regimental duties, you should expect that one day you will be Platoon Sergeant, Company Sergeant Major (CSM) and RSM.” Lt-Col Rokoura concluded.
Forty-four members of the RFMF from various units were chosen to attend the course at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua.
