November 6, 2019The Chinese Peopleโs Liberation Army (PLA) Naval training ship Qi Jiguang (Hull 83), which is carrying out a three-month ocean-going training and visit mission, arrived at the Suva Kings Wharf today Monday October 4th, 2019.
The Deputy Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Force (DCRFMF), Brigadier-General (Brig-Gen) Mohammed Aziz together with the Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China to Fiji His-Excellency Mr Qian Bo welcomed personels of the Qi Jiguang as they were set to conduct a five-day friendly visit and engagement with the Republic of Fiji Navy (RFN).
The Qi Jiguang (Hull 83) mission is basically to support cadets from different naval academies to carry out maritime practice. These practices literally involves participating in comprehensive subjects on navigation and making observations in different stations and with it comes an opportunity to interact with other seafarers.
Rallied in front a big crowd of Chinese communities was the RFMF Band and also reps of Chinese Lion dances and drum beatings to welcome the Naval Ship as it berthed on the Kingโs Wharf.
In addition to this, Brig-Gen Aziz was accorded a guard of honor on board and was toured on the ship by Mission Commander Rear Admiral Yu Wenbing before the program was followed by a brief and exchanging of gifts.
