February 3, 2020The Chief of US National Guards Bureau (CNGB), General Joseph L. Lengyel paid a courtesy call to the Commander RFMF Rear-Admiral (RADM) Naupoto at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) in Nabua today (31 January 2020).
The purpose of General Lengyl visit today is to strengthen bilateral ties with RFMF and enhance the state to state partnership the RFMF and US National Guards have established.
The General was greeted with a Fifty-Men Guard at QEB before the bilateral talks commenced with RADM Naupoto and senior officers of the RFMF. In addition to this, General Lengyel was then accorded with a traditional Fijian welcoming ceremony by members of the RFMF at the Officers mess.
During the traditional welcoming, General Lengyel expressed his appreciation for being traditionally welcomed in QEB and stated that he was honoured to visit the country.
General Lengyel serves as the 28th Chief of the National Guard Bureau and as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He also serves as an advisor to the President of the United States, Secretary of Defence, National Security Council and is also the Department of Defence’s channel of communication to various government representatives on matters concerning to the National Guard.
