January 26, 2023The Third Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR), Commanding Officer (CO), Lieutenant-Colonel (LtCol) Viliame Draunibaka, officially inaugurate and badged 17 soldiers who are potential Officer Cadets for the 3FIR at Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) today, (19 December 2022).
These Cadets were selected through the Regular Officers Selection Board (ROSB), which was conducted in April, and were recruited straight after passing out, before being enlisted as attachees with 3FIR on 1 August 2022.
The 3FIR Adjutant (Adj) Lieutenant (Lt) Seci Nawalowalo stated that the sole purpose of their attachment is to train them on the basic skills and knowledge relevant to an infantryman and to better prepare them for future Officer Cadet courses, both locally and abroad.
“Although these soldiers have been badged and officially inaugurated into the 3rd battalion, the cadets will continue to be monitored and trained to ensure they are well prepared for officer training.” said Lt Nawalowalo
Family members of the 17 Officer Cadets were also present to witness the auspicious event.
