August 15, 2019The Australian Defence Force (ADF) Chief of Army, Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Richard Maxwell “Rick” Burr made an official visit to the Headquarter of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) on Wednesday, 7th August 2019. He was received by Deputy Commander, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Aziz Mohammed and was accorded a Quarter Guard.
After a brief discussion with Brig Gen Mohammed, Lt Gen Burr proceeded to visit Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) in Nabua were he was received by Commander Land Force (CLF) Colonel (Col) Manoa Gadai.
At QEB Lt Gen Burr was also accorded a Traditional welcoming ceremony after which there was a display from the Unarmed Combat Unit of the RFMF. He told the Officers and SNCO’s after traditional welcoming ceremony that it is a great honour to work together and explore ways to continue deepen our corporation together.
Lt Gen Burr served as Commander 1st Division from 2011 to 2012, Deputy Commanding General – Operations, United States Army Pacific from January 2013 to November 2014, and Deputy Chief of Army from 2015 to 2018. He was the first foreign general to be given a service component command within the United States Army.
