The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) proudly celebrates a landmark achievement as its Commander, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, is awarded the French National Order of Merit (Ordre national du Mérite). The prestigious honor was conferred by General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of the Defense Staff of France, during an official ceremony. This recognition as a Chevalier (Knight) of the Order recognises Major General Kalouniwai’s exemplary leadership and Fiji’s significant contributions to global peacekeeping and international diplomacy.

The award highlights Major General Kalouniwai’s instrumental role in advancing Fiji’s peacekeeping missions in conflict zones such as the Golan Heights, South Sudan, and Sinai. His dedication to fostering peace and security reflects Fiji’s growing reputation as a trusted partner in international operations. This recognition also symbolizes the strengthening of ties between Fiji and France, particularly in defense cooperation and humanitarian efforts in the Indo-Pacific region.

During the ceremony, General Burkhard commended Major General Kalouniwai’s commitment to peace and his role in promoting international collaboration.
