The President of India, Her Excellency (H.E.) Droupadi Murmu, arrived at Nausori International Airport today as part of her official visit to Fiji. Upon her arrival, H.E. Murmu was received by the Prime Minister, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka and was accorded a 100-man guard of honour by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
Later, H.E. Murmu was given a traditional welcome ceremony at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva before paying a courtesy visit to the President of Fiji, H.E. Wiliame Katonivere.
As part of her visit, H.E. Murmu also participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial Grounds in Veiuto paying tribute to the fallen soldiers.
This visit underscores the strong diplomatic relations between Fiji and India, established in 1970 and based on mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as shared values and mutual understanding.
