July 27, 2024The Republic of Fiji Military Forces Naval Division held their parade today (24 July, 2024) to mark their 49 Years of existence at the Togalevu Naval Base.
The chief guest for the auspicious ceremony was the Deputy Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Commodore (CDRE) Humphery Tawake who expressed his gratitude for the turnout and the high standards displayed during the parade.
CDRE Tawake also stated that the Navy has evolved overtime and it was ideal to reflect on the past as it played a crucial role in shaping the Fiji Navy to where it stands today.
โThe 25th of July marks our 49th anniversary, 49 years of honor, service, and sacrifice through various forms of challenges. As we celebrate Navy Week with skills exercises and competitive sporting events, I encourage us all to reflect on our impressive history and how it has shaped us into the Navy we are today,โ CDRE Tawake said.
In addition to this, CDRE Tawake also commissioned three midshipmen who have successfully completed the training and reminded them to embrace a sacred calling to lead, command, manage personnel and resources of the RFN and the greater RFMF with sound judgment, even in situations of extreme hardship.
The Navy Week celebrations commenced with a skill competition, internship sports competition and will culminate with a Navy Day celebration on Friday.
