December 3, 2019The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (CRFMF) Rear-Admiral (RADM) Viliame Naupoto visited the 2nd Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment serving with the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in South Camp Sinai, Egypt to meet the troops, assess their operational needs and meet with the Force Commander Major-General Simon Stuart from the Australian Defence Force on 27 to 29 November, 2019.
After reviewing a guard of honor, RADM Naupoto was then given an operational briefing on the various tasking the Fijian troops were engaged in before he was taken on a whirlwind tour around South Camp.
During his meet and greet session with the troops, RADM Naupoto lauded their exemplary performance and reinforced the need to remain vigilant for the remaining period of their tour.
The Republic of Fiji Military Forces provide a contingent (FIJICON) to the MFO and have done so since the mission began in 1982. FIJICON provides security at South Camp and to the Civilian Observer Unit when conducting missions in Zones A, B and C. It also reports observations in Zone C in accordance with the Treaty and Protocol.
CRFMF was accompanied by the Director Peace Support Operations Colonel (Col) Pacolo Luveni.
