November 26, 2019The game that all have been waiting for, the Ratu Sukuna Bowl Challenge between Army and Police kicked off at the ANZ Stadium on the 22nd of November 2019. Present to officiate the game was the Turaga na Roko Tui Bau Ratu Tevita Taniela who was accompanied by His-Excellency the President of Fiji Major General (Ret’d) and the Prime Minister Hon. Rear Admiral ( Ret’d) Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama.
A very tight game at the first quarter and indiscipline in defence from Police resulted in Army drawing first blood in points. Points stood at 3 points to Army and nil to Police.
In the second quarter phase of the first haft Army old war horse prop Vesi Rarawa was sin binned for dangerous play which resulted in a 3 all after Police successfully converted the penalty.
However, scores stood at Army 17 and Police 8 in most of the second half of the game. Police quickly caught up but was not enough to defend the prestigious Tanoa.
Final scores after a tightly fought match between the two disciplined forces resulted in a 20-17 to Police. World Disciplined Forces Cup holders Army Captain, Staff Sergeant Sereli Ledua dedicated their win to their children and families.
Out of the nine games played during the 2019 Sukuna Bowl competition, Army won the Cricket match, the Wives category in both the volleyball and netball finals, the rugby development, oldies four quarters match and the rugby main match.
