The closing ceremony of Basic Recon Course was held at the Third Battalion of Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR), Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) in Nabua on Friday 18 October 2019.
Commanding Officer ( CO 3FIR) Lieutenant Colonel (LT COL) Aseri Rokoura addressed the course participants about the importance of the course they had completed and the task that will be allocated to them from the Battalion in the future. “It will require a lot of sacrifice, commitment, endurance, mental strength, and physical strength from each of you, this is just the beginning of this course and I’m happy that you all managed to complete it,” he said “In my remarks during the opening of this course, I shared with you about the ‘Intent’ of the Commander RFMF and the Commander Land Force “TO BE EFFICIENTLY AND EFFECTIVELY POSTURED FOR ANY CONTINGENCY” this is part of that capacity building which will assist in the Land Forces future plans,” he added.
CO 3FIR also mentioned the future plans to support our peacekeeping missions with similar capabilities and the future intentions of honoring successful course participants with a special badge that provides recognition of their efforts. The badge will also create a sense of pride and professionalism, uniqueness to the holder and to the institution- the RFMF.
A total of thirty-one personnel graduated after completing the Basic Recon Course including two divers from the Fiji Navy, one from the Force Training Group and twenty-nine from 3FIR.
