October 13, 2019Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison visited the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Blackrock Camp in Nadi Saturday 12th October, 2019 as part of his two day visit to Fiji.
Hon Morrison was received by Minister of Defence Inia Seruiratu and also addressed the 183 RFMF personnel who are on a six-week pre-deployment training for the UNAMI Iraq. While addressing the military officers preparing for deployment, Mr Scott said the Australian Government was proud to be working with the Fiji Military Forces in the Peacekeeping space.
Hon PM Morrison says the progress made at the Blackrock Training Camp builds on the bilateral meeting that he had in Suva where they went through follow up actions on the items they were able to discuss in Canberra during Hon PM Bainimarama’s recent visit to Australia.
The facility is currently undergoing an upgrade funded by the Australian Government. It will also host a Warehouse that is part of the Australian Government’s assistance towards the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) program for the Pacific region and one of the critical part of engagement in the strategic Step-Up initiative by Australia.
