The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) handed over the Ceremonial Guards role to the Fiji Police Force at Government House on Saturday 31st August 2019.
The RFMF Band led by Major (Maj) Meli Bulitiliva marched from the State House playing dazzling Jazz tunes escorting the outgoing guards to the main gate to welcome the incoming guards from the Fiji Police Force (FPF). The incoming guards marched through the city of Suva from Flea Market to Government House main gate. The RFMF guards marched out of the main gate after successfully completed their guard duty for the month.
Officers, men and women of RFMF, Officers, men and women of FPF and members of the public were also present to witness the significant occasion of the presidential guards change. The FPF guards are now the Ceremonial Guards at Government House until the next change of guardsโ ceremony in September.
The change of guard tradition occurs every month where both guards are thoroughly trained and prepared to shoulder the vital task of maintaining ceremonial guard duty at the presidential premises.
Both guards displayed magnificent drill movements during the handover ceremony.
