August 26, 2019Two Japanese Naval training vessel on a training expedition exercise visited our shores today, Friday 23 August 2019.
The two training vessel KASHIMA and INAZUMAย are on an Overseas Training Cruise with approximately 570 Officers and crew. A total of 190 newly commissioned officers who graduated from the Japase Maritime Officers School are also part of the training expedition.
As part of the Fijian traditional welcome, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Band led by Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Josaia Usumaki entertained the visitors playing dazzling Jazz tunes upon their arrival at the Kings Wharf.
Later the Commander, Training Squadron Commander, Rear Admiral Daisuke KAJIMOTO paid a courtesy at Headquarters RFMF at Berkley Crescent. He was accorded military quarter guard by the Third Battalion at Berkley Crescent before he was receivedย by the Deputy Commander, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Aziz Mohammed.
The Purpose of the Overseas Training Cruise is to develop the newly commissioned officers seamanship skills and knowledge through various training at sea and to foster their international perspective and promote friendly international relations.
