Republic of Fiji Military Force welcomed the guided‑missile destroyer, USS MICHEAL MURPHY during their visit to Fiji at the Kings Warf on Friday 27 January 2017. Organized sports were played at the Fiji Police Training Academy in Nasova between RFMF and the crew of the USS Michael Murphy on Saturday 28 January 2017.
Crews of the USS MICHEAL MURPHY were also involved in a cleanup camping at the Samabula Citizen home on the same day they arrived.
Judith Cefkin, the United States Ambassador to Fiji said that the ship was the second guided-missile destroyer and the sixth US Naval Vassal to visit Fiji.
