The 2/24 Junior Staff Officers Course (JSO) commenced today 26th August, 2024 at the Officer Training Centre (OTC) in Vatuwaqa. The Chief Guest for the occasion was the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Commander Land Forces (CLF), Brigadier General (Brig-Gen) Onisivoro Covunisaqa.
During his opening address, Brig-Gen Covunisaqa welcomed all participants to the course and emphasised the importance of this course. He highlighted that the knowledge and skills gained from the course would not only benefit the participants in their current roles but also in their future career development.
โThe JSO Course is demanding and will test your abilities to think, read, write, and speak English. Most, if not all of you will discover, that the Officers Training Centreโs emblem, is not merely decorative; but it signifies the challenges ahead. Prepare yourselves, as this course will require significant reading and writing,โ Brig-Gen Covunisaqa said.
Brig-Gen Covunisaqa added that these qualities are necessary for both improving critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Making reasoned, rational, and well-considered decisions is a key component of critical thinking, enabling individuals to make sound and balanced decisions.
In conclusion, Brig-Gen Covunisaqa wished all the participants the very best for the course and encouraged them to make the most of their time at OTC.
