The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Director Force Development, Colonel Aseri Rokoura, officiated as the Chief Guest at the Dawasamu Secondary School Cadet Pass Out Parade in Tailevu on Wednesday, 04 June 2025.
A total of 182 students proudly participated in the parade, marking weeks of intense training in drill, leadership, teamwork, and discipline. The training was initially conducted by the Third Battalion, Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR) and later continued by the Force Training Group (FTG).
The cadet program is aimed at shaping confident, obedient, and disciplined young men and women with practical life skills and strong values.
The senior cadets also participated in a condensed leadership training based on the Veiliutaki Framework (Lead Self), and received important awareness sessions from the Fiji Police Force on drug abuse. This aspect of the Cadet Program focusses on shaping mindset and providing tools that will help the senior students in their remaining journey.
In his address, Colonel Rokoura emphasised that the cadet training goes beyond drills and discipline. He highlighted that the program is not designed to militarize students but rather to build leadership and resilience.
โ€œYour schoolโ€™s own vision: to educate, nurture, and empower students to reach their full potentialโ€”aligns seamlessly with the principles of cadet training,โ€ Col Rokoura said.
He underscored the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and self-sacrifice as core values not only in the security forces but also in any future roles the students may pursue, whether it’s in government, the private sector, community service, or agriculture.
Lastly, Col Rokoura commended the parents and teachers for their unwavering support and for molding the students into resilient individuals who are ready to embrace challenges with confidence. He also expressed his gratitude to the members of the FTG Staffs for their dedication in preparing the students to achieve an excellent standard in the parade.
