𝐔𝐒𝐆 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝟏 𝐅𝐈𝐑 𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐦𝐢

The Under-Secretary-General (USG) and head of Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA), Ms Rosemary DiCarlo visited the Fijian Soldiers at Camp Tamimi, Baghdad on 23rd January 2023 as part of her official visit to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).

Upon her arrival she was received by the Chief of Staff, Mr Mark Rutgers and the Commanding Officer Fiji Guards Unit, Lieutenant-Colonel Waqanisau. The Under-Secretary-General was accorded a military quarter guard and was briefed by the personnel In-Charge of Female Searchers, Sergeant Ravi Viola on the role of female searchers serving under UNAMI umbrella. Afterwards, Ms.DiCarlo was presented with a location brief conducted by the Unit’s Operations Officer Lieutenant Viliame Tagivetaua.

The Under-Secretary-General and head of the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Ms.Rosemary DiCarlo advises the Secretary-General on peace and security issues globally while overseeing “good offices” initiatives and field-based political missions carrying out peacemaking, preventive diplomacy and peace-building activities in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia and the Americas. She also oversees the United Nations electoral assistance provided to dozens of its member states each year.
