The Joint Officer Cadet Exercise Venture, a collaboration between the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), began early this week.
The exercise involved 32 cadets from the RFMF and 40 cadets from the NZDF. The exercise was divided into two phases, the first phase took place at the Savura Training Area and focused on semi-tactical survival training. Members of the Reconnaissance section of the Third Fiji Infantry Regiment demonstrated survival tactics and techniques to both the forces.
The second phase was conducted at the Tailevu, Dawasamu Training Area and was called Exercise Veitokani. This phase provides cadets with the opportunity to experience an unfamiliar environment, where they could practice making strategic decisions and improve their management and operational skills.
This cadet field exercise is designed to explore warfare tactics and test strategies in simulated combat scenarios. Also, it enhances the cadets’ ability to make timely decisions while managing personnel and resources under pressure.
