The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Veiliutaki Framework Lead Systems Course officially concluded yesterday at the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Services (FLIPS) in Nasese, with the participation of two officers from the Vanuatu Mobile Force (VMF).
Designed to prepare participants for leadership in todayโ€™s complex and dynamic environment, the course equipped RFMF officers with the tools and mindset necessary to foster greater self-awareness, build cohesive teams, and lead with purpose. Participants developed practical skills in coaching, communication, and articulating strategic visionโ€”key to helping their teams stay connected and mission-focused.
The closing ceremony was officiated by the Director of Force Development, Colonel Aseri Rokoura, who commended the participants for their commitment to personal and professional growth.
In his address, Col Rokoura emphasised the evolving nature of military leadership in response to regional and global challenges.
โ€œLeadership at this level is not about controlling processes; it is about unleashing potential. Itโ€™s about removing barriers so our teams can thriveโ€”asking better questions, listening more deeply, and cultivating curiosity that shapes future commanders and change-makers,โ€ Col Rokoura said.
Col Rokoura also highlighted the importance of regional security cooperation, thanking the two officers from the Vanuatu Mobile Force (VMF) whose participation helped strengthen Pacific partnerships and shared leadership values.
He acknowledged the increasing complexity of modern security threatsโ€”including climate change, cyber disruption, and transnational crimeโ€”and underscored the need for leaders who can build robust networks across national and institutional boundaries.
In his concluding remarks, Col Rokoura reminded the graduates that their new roles within the broader RFMF Veiliutaki Framework come with both privilege and responsibility.
โ€œYou now hold a privileged and demanding role within the RFMF Veiliutaki Frameworkโ€”as system influencers, culture shapers, and stewards of reform. Leave not with satisfaction, but with the urgency of beginning a journey as transformational leaders.โ€
The Lead Systems Course aligns with the RFMFโ€™s ongoing commitment to developing agile, forward-thinking leaders who are equipped to serve Fiji with vision, resilience, and purpose.
