The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) hosted the Fijiโ€“Australia Defence Cooperation Talks at the Maritime Essential Services Center (MESC) in Lami today, August 4, 2025.
This strategic-level military-to-military engagement builds on the outcomes of the Fijiโ€“Australia Defence Strategic Dialogue held in May 2025, reflecting the growing depth of defence cooperation under the Vuvale Partnership.
The Australian delegation was led by the Director General Pacific & Timor Leste, Air Commodore Jo Brick, while the Fijian delegation was headed by the RFMF Chief of Staff, Brigadier-General Sapenafa Motufaga.
The talks focused on enhancing bilateral defence collaboration, strengthening regional security, and identifying practical avenues for future cooperation. Both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to shared values and mutual support in addressing regional challenges.
This engagement underscores the enduring partnership between Fiji and Australia, and the shared vision for a secure, stable, and resilient Pacific.
