In support of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces’ (RFMF) ongoing commitment to advancing and empowering women in the Force, 26 servicewomen attended the Female Leaders Workshop, facilitated by the Pacific Centre for Peacebuilding (PCP), at the Novotel Conference Centre in Lami today, September 10, 2025.
The workshop was officiated by the RFMF’s Chief Staff Officer for Human Resources Management, Lieutenant Colonel Lepani Damuni. While addressing the servicewomen, he emphasized the importance of impact and inclusiveness within the RFMF.
“You are in an organization where initially there were no females. In the late 1980s, we began recruiting women. Some of you have adapted by being inclusive, while others have made an impact in the areas where you have served.”
“Being in this male-dominated field, it is important to consider how you will influence the organization, your community, your country, and the global network when deployed to places like the Middle East. Remember to be inclusive in everything you do.”
He concluded by expressing his gratitude to the PCP for facilitating the workshop and enabling RFMF female leaders to participate in this important workshop.
The three-day workshop aims to equip servicewomen with tools and strategies to help them thrive in a male-dominated field.
