The Poppy Appeal 2025 was officially launched today (1 October 2025) at the Government Building Front Lawn.
Officiating the event was the Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Honorable (Hon) Pio Tikoduadua. In his address, the Minister acknowledged Fijiโ€™s continued role in international peacekeeping, from the Malayan Emergency in the 1950s to United Nations missions in Lebanon, Iraq, Sinai, and beyond.
โ€œThey fought in the Solomon Islands, in the Middle East, and in other theatres alongside allied Forces. Many did not return, those who did carried the memory of war into their families and communities. Their service significantly contributed to the international efforts that led to the conclusion of the Second World War. Their service is part of our national heritage, a steady contribution to global peace and security. The Poppy reminds us of those sacrifices,โ€ Hon Tikoduadua said.
This yearโ€™s Poppy Appeal will see volunteers distributing poppies nationwide in the weeks leading up to Remembrance Day in November. Funds raised will support Fijiโ€™s veterans and their families.
