On the morning of November 11, 2025 the officers and soldiers of the First Infantry Fiji Battalion gathered to honor those who gave their lives in service. This yearโ€™s Remembrance Day was particularly special, as it also marked the relocation of the battalion headquarters to UN Position 60 (UNP60) in Syria.
The ceremony began with a short devotion by the Battalion Padre. Following this, WO1 Naisau, who is on his final tour of duty, read the Ode of Remembrance, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made. A deep silence followed, broken only by the Last Post, and a one-minute silence was observed.
The wreath-laying was led by Commanding Officer, Lt Col Isireli Dugu. WO1 Salote Salabuco represented the Ministry of Health, in recognition of the brave non-combatant medics who also paid the ultimate sacrifice during war.
