February 22, 2022A dine-in was held at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks Officers Mess on Friday 3rd December to welcome the President of the Republic of Fiji and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.
In his opening remarks, the Commander-in-Chief said he was honoured to be welcomed to the mess in the presence of Retired Senior Officers such as Colonel of the Regiment Brigadier-General Ratu Epeli Nailatikau; the Honorable Prime Minister, Rear Admiral Frank Bainimarama; Honorable Minister of Defence, National Security & Policing, Colonel Inia Seruiratu and Honorary Colonel of 2FIR, Brigadier General Apakuki Kurusiga.
He also thanked the Mess President Lieutenant Colonel Penioni Naliva for the well-organized event and urged the young officers to continue to uphold and maintain the custom and tradition of the military.
Also in attendance was the Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, the Commissioner of Corrections Commander Francis Kean, Former Permanent Secretary of Information Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Leweni, Senior Officers, Officers and Defence Attachesβ.
Dining-In is a military traditional formal dinner that provides an occasion for officers and their guests to gather together in an atmosphere of comradeship.
