The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Captain (Navy) Timoci Natuva, psc(j), MSD, as the Commander of the Naval Division, succeeding Commodore Humphrey Tawake. Captain (Navy) Natuva brings to this esteemed position over two decades of distinguished service and leadership within the Naval Division of the RFMF.
Captain (Navy) Natuvaโs illustrious naval career began in 1999 when he enlisted in the Fiji Navy. A graduate of the Royal New Zealand Navy Officers Training School and commissioned in 2001, he has held numerous leadership roles across both sea and shore commands. These include serving as Maritime Commander, Support Commander, Fleet Operations Officer, and Chief of Staff for the Naval Division.
A Long Navigation Specialist, Captain (Navy) Natuva has extensive experience in constabulary operations, maritime security, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR). His operational expertise is complemented by a strong record of international service, including assignments with the United Nations in Iraq and the Golan Heights, where he played critical roles as a Liaison Officer and Chief Liaison Officer.
Captain (Navy) Natuva is a highly educated and decorated officer, holding a Masterโs degree in Military and Defence Studies from the Australian National University and a Masterโs degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from Deakin University. He is also an alumnus of the United Statesโ Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. Recognized for his service, he has received honors including the United Nations Medal for service in Iraq and the Golan Heights, the Meritorious Service Decoration, the Fiji 50th Anniversary Medal, and the General Service Medal.
Married to Eva, with two sons, Moses and Tim Jr., Captain (Navy) Natuva enjoys reading and watching rugby in his spare time. He assumes command of the Naval Division at a pivotal time, bringing a wealth of operational experience, strategic insight, and a commitment to excellence.
