The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF)- Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) has successfully completed a comprehensive training exercise in collaboration with the French Armed Forces in New Caledonia (FANC)- Forces Armรฉes en Nouvelle-Calรฉdonie.
Over the past week, the deployed Platoon, comprising 27 personnel, engaged in a series of challenging military drills designed to enhance tactical proficiency, interoperability, and regional security capabilities.
Key activities during the training included close combat exercises, jungle warfare drills, sea zodiac operations, and nautical commando procedures. Additionally, the platoon participated in high-intensity scenarios such as seizing strategic military targets, squad obstacle courses, and helicopter insertion missions. These drills aimed to simulate real-world operational environments, fostering teamwork and resilience.
A highlight of the program was the coordinated missions to secure military objectives, including Kuendu Beach and tactical camps, demonstrating the platoonโs capability to execute precision operations under complex conditions. The training also focused on humanitarian aspects, such as Search-And-Rescue (SAR) procedures and disaster response readiness, underscoring the RFMFโs commitment to regional peace and cooperation.
The exercise concluded with a formal closing ceremony, recognizing the platoonโs achievements and the strengthened partnership between the RFMF and FANC. Upon arrival the RFMF Platoon was received by JTFC Chief of Staff- Captain(N) Saula Tuilevuka who commended the platoonโs dedication and emphasized the importance of such engagements in maintaining operational excellence and fostering international collaboration.
This milestone reinforces the RFMFโs strategic focus on enhancing regional security through partnerships and ensuring preparedness for future challenges. The lessons and skills acquired during this training will undoubtedly contribute to the RFMFโs effectiveness in safeguarding Fiji and its neighbors.
