November 28, 2024The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, and his delegation visited the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis today to meet with two Fijian naval cadets currently undergoing training at the prestigious institution.
Midshipmen Atile Naroba and Osea Melibua are participating in a rigorous four-year cadetship program, which combines military training with academic education, culminating in an undergraduate degree. Their studies are complemented by active involvement in extracurricular activities, including representing the academy in rugby and other sports. The cadets’ outstanding performance and dedication have earned them praise from both their peers and faculty.
During the visit, Major General Kalouniwai expressed pride in the achievements of the two midshipmen, commending their commitment to excellence both in academics and athletics. He highlighted the significance of their journey as representatives of Fiji on the global stage, emphasizing the role of their training in shaping future leaders for the RFMF.
