February 20, 2023The Commander Republic Military Forces (RFMF) Major-General (Maj-Gen) Ro Jone Kalouniwai closed the two-day Senior Warrant Officers Leadership Workshop which was conducted at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks Warrant Officer’s and Sergeant’s mess today.
Maj-Gen Ro Jone Kalouniwai emphasized the need for senior warrant officers to expand their awareness of their roles and responsibilities within the RFMF.
โI have been going through your syllabus on what you have been learning these past few days focusing on your roles, focusing on your responsibilities, and empowering the ๐ฝ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ that can enable you to become a much better leader in this institution. It is a good sign for the RFMF as we are beginning to unlock certain pathways that will give us a much deeper sense of understanding on the importance of your roles and responsibilities,โ Maj-Gen Kalouniwai said.
โFor you, as warrant officers, you have a very difficult responsibility and I know that after these past two days, you have now realized the importance of your responsibilities and how much challenging it can be for you in terms of what is required from you . . .I challenge you all this afternoon to take forward that level of responsibility.โ
Maj-Gen Kalouniwai also stressed the importance of ensuring that they adhere to the institutional values and to take care of what they are responsible for as transformational leaders in the RFMF.
RFMF Force Sergeant Major (FSM) Warrant Officer Class One (WO 1) Joeli Rabuli said that the workshop aimed to create an intensive educational experience in a short period. He said that the workshop had indeed served its purpose and will allow development for all those senior warrant officers that had participated.
โThis workshop was planned back in 2021, and because of some unplanned activities within the RFMF, we had to defer it to this year. In fact, the workshop aims to impart knowledge in a very short period to the warrant officers and to enhance the knowledge on the roles and responsibilities of RSMs and future RSMs . . . the expectations of the command element to the RSMs are crucial to our responsibilities. We have very young warrant officers and I believe that this workshop has helped them since there has been no comprehensive effort or fully conducted course that are not available.โ WO 1 Rabuli said.
Maj-Gen Kalouniwai and FSM WO 1 Rabuli also thanked the NZ Defence Force Defence Attachรฉ and Technical Assistant for funding the program and taking a key role in enhancing leadership within the RFMF.
