The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major General (Maj-Gen) Jone Kalouniwai, emphasized the importance of leadership and courage during the opening of the 1/25 Grade Three Staff & Tactics Course on Friday, 28 February 2025.
Speaking to the course participants, Maj-Gen Kalouniwai encouraged the participants to look beyond their immediate needs and not to simply observe, but to explore deeper into the issues at hand. He encouraged them to question their assumptions, emphasizing that doing so would lead to valuable insights and deeper understanding.
โBy questioning your assumptions, you will gain a deeper understanding of the problems you face, allowing you to effectively scope the issues and determine not just what to address, but also how to tackle them,โ Maj-Gen Kalouniwai said.
Maj-Gen Kalouniwai also emphasized the importance of teamwork and leadership, stressing that each memberโs skills, decisions, and expertise were crucial to the teamโs success.
In closing, Maj-Gen Kalouniwai encouraged the participants to seize every opportunity and to approach each situation with empathy.
Among the 14 participants are Lieutenant Joshua Tong of the Australian Defence Force and Lieutenant Viliame Mapulu Manoa of His Majestyโs Armed Forces (Tonga).
