The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) came together with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival in a vibrant and festive atmosphere. The event highlighted the ongoing strong relationship between Fiji and China, with both nations sharing in the celebration of the Lunar New Year.

The festivities began with a formal welcome for the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, who was accorded a quarter guard upon his arrival. This gesture marked the respect and esteem in which the Ambassador is held by the RFMF and symbolized the close ties between the two countries.

In his speech, the Ambassador conveyed his best wishes to the RFMF for a prosperous year ahead. He highlighted that 2025 marks the “Year of the Snake,” attributing qualities such as wisdom and resilience to the snake. These characteristics, the Ambassador noted, are reflective of the values the RFMF upholds in its service to the nation.

Responding to the Ambassador’s well wishes, the Commander of the RFMF expressed his gratitude for the continuous support from the Embassy. He acknowledged the important role that the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China has played in strengthening the relationship between the two countries and reaffirmed the RFMF’s commitment to fostering further cooperation.

The celebration was not just about speeches and formalities, but also included a fun-filled afternoon of games and activities. Members of the RFMF had the opportunity to interact with young diplomats from the Embassy, forging personal connections and engaging in friendly competition. The spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect was evident as both sides came together to celebrate the occasion.
