April 14, 2023Chief of Staff RFMF Brigadier-General (Brig-Gen) Sapenafa Motufaga officially closed the Grade 3 Officers Course at the Officers Training Centre (OTC) in Vatuwaqa today. In his closing address, Brig-Gen Motufaga reminded the participants of the importance of the course they underwent over the past seven weeks.
“As leaders, mastering our knowledge and skills and knowing when and where to apply them is important. This course is the road to competency and proficiency. Now that you have qualified from the Grade 3 course, you have gained competency, but there is still a long road to proficiency,” Brig-Gen Motufaga said.
“So from these past seven weeks, you have learned how to improve your understanding of tactics, administration, and planning. This is very important for your careers as officers in this profession of ours . . . there is no second place in our profession.”
Brig-Gen Motufaga also said that despite the evolution of war and conflict around the world, military leadership still remained a crucial component.
He also said that competent and proficient military leadership is also important in peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance disaster relief operations, so it is important for the participant to master what they have learned during the course.
The Grade 3 Staff Officers Course is focused on increasing the skills, knowledge, and aptitude of individuals to solve difficult issues and assist with the production and implementation of plans to support commanders at various levels within the institution.
