The Commander Republic of Fiji Military Forces (CRFMF), Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai today (20 February 2023) officially opened the Trauma Healing Workshop at the RFMF Chapel which was conducted at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) in Nabua.
In his opening address Maj-Gen Kalouniwai thanked the RFMF Chaplaincy department and the staff from the Bible Society of the South Pacific for the joint collaboration in organizing a workshop that is centred on assisting personnel that go through various forms of trauma.
Maj-Gen Kalouniwai said that it was crucial for the participants to learn as much as they can during the course in order to help soldiers and sailors improve their lives and at the same time promote good health physically, mentally and spiritually.
Furthermore, Maj-Gen Kalouniwai also mentioned that the conduct of the course was also in line with certain components of the 5-year strategic plan in terms of transforming the institution. He said that after the duration of the course he hope that all the participants should be able to assist those that face trauma especially when out on peacekeeping duties.
Reverend Amena Volavola from the Trauma counselling in the Bible Society of the South Pacific while speaking on behalf of his delegation said that they were honored to impart knowledge to the RFMF, as it would be beneficial to the institution.
Rev. Volavola said that they will be delivering several crucial topics that would assist participants in regards to dealing with trauma.
The course is expected to finish at the end of this week.
