The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) is proud to announce that, for the first time in its history, two of its officer cadets have been selected to undergo military training at the prestigious National Defence Academy of Japan (NDA).
Officer Cadet Iliesa Caginatabale [Kadavu] and Officer Cadet Sailasa Natobe[Nadroga] will embark on a five-year journey at the NDA, located in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, where they will pursue undergraduate degrees while undergoing intensive military officer training. The NDA prepares future leaders for Japanโs Army, Navy, and Air Force and provides a world-class military education.
The two officer cadets were formally farewelled by His Excellency Mr Rokuichiro Michii, Japanese Ambassador to Fiji on Tuesday 25 March 2025, at his official residence. The ceremony was attended by their parents, RFMF Land Force Commander Brigadier General, Onisivoro Covunisaqa, and senior RFMF officers. Ambassador Michii congratulated the cadets on their selection and encouraged them to embrace the opportunity, excel in their training, and strengthen the growing defense ties between Fiji and Japan.
