𝐉𝐓𝐅𝐂 𝐓𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐒 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐅 𝐄𝐅𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐀𝐔 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏

Late last week, a dedicated team from the Joint Taskforce Command (JTFC) and Land Forces Command (LFC) was deployed alongside the Divisional Commissioner Eastern and key government departments to conduct Detailed Damage Assessments (DDA) and distribute food rations to communities affected by Tropical Cyclone Rae in the Lau Group.

To support this critical mission, the Commissioner Eastern Office and the National Disaster Risk Management Office secured three vessels from the Government Shipping Services. The response teams have been divided into three clusters, covering the following islands:

Yasayasa Moala, Vanuavatu, Cicia, Vanua Balavu, Tuvuca, Nayau, Lakeba, Oneata, Moce, Komo, Namuka, Kabara, Fulaga, Ogea, and Vatoa.

This operation aligns with JTFC’s role to plan and execute Humanitarian Aid & Disaster Relief (HADR) operations locally and regionally.
